  1. Dora Adaptation Critique**

As a long-time Dora fan, I feel the new live-action adaptation has unfortunately lost much of the heart and charm that made the original so special. The earlier version captured Dora’s confidence, wit, and approachable personality, giving children a positive role model that truly reflected the cartoon we all loved. The dynamic cast — with characters like Sammy and Randy — added quirks, humor, and diversity that made the film lively and fun.

In contrast, the latest adaptation makes Dora seem more shallow, forceful, and even selfish at times. Her playful spirit is replaced with a “know-it-all” tone, and she no longer feels as relatable or inspiring. The addition of Naya brought a darker tone that overshadowed the quirky, lighthearted balance of the original group. Overall, Dora feels less confident and has lost her strong identity, making her less appealing to kids.

While it’s understandable that cast changes happen due to time gaps, the transition has not carried Dora’s role-model qualities into this new version. The previous actress set a very high standard by bringing Dora’s cartoon personality to life, and the current performance has yet to meet that level. For children, the old Dora was more uplifting, fun, and full of morals — this new version sadly doesn’t carry the same impact.

Nickelodeon should reflect carefully on this shift, as Dora is more than a character — she’s an icon for young audiences worldwide
